Our PDC drill bits are manufactured by bonding extremely small diamond crystals with a metal matrix to form a Polycrystalline Diamond Compact. The bit itself consists of numerous small cutters attached to a body made of steel or tungsten carbide. This creates a shear-cutting action that removes rock more efficiently than the crushing mechanisms used by tricone bits. Since the carbide-supported PDC hole cutter was introduced by General Electric in 1971, it has become standard across nearly all material removal industries.

Typically, diamond PDC bits are used for drilling through harder materials such as rock and sandstone. Their modern designs achieve up to three times the ROP of roller cone bits in soft to medium formations, and up to five times as much in optimal conditions.
